Mizoram, nestled in the picturesque and gentle hill folds in the southernmost tip of the North Eastern states is a mountainous region, which became the 23rd States of the Indian Union in February,1987. It was one of the district of Assam till 1972 when it became a Union Territory. Flanked by Bangladesh on the west and Myanmar on the east and south, Mizoram occupies an area of great strategic importance in the north – eastern corner of India. It has 722 Km. of International boundary with Myanmar and Bangladesh. Mizoram has the most variegated hilly terrain in the eastern part of India. Mizoram has a great natural beauty and an endless variety of landscape. It is also very rich in flora and fauna. Mizos are primarily cultivators, and their festivals are very much connected with agricultural operations. They are fond of all the good things of live, and have a strong community feeling. Most of the Mizos are Christian.
