The state of Haryana that belongs to the Kuru region of North India was formed on 1st November 1966. The state is referred as the cradle of Indus Valley and Vedic Civilization that flourished at the banks of the extinct Saraswati River.Haryana state stretches for about 44212 sq.km and lies in the North of India forming frontiers with Himachal Pradesh to the North, Punjab and Rajastan to the West and South respectively. Its eastern border is defined by the river Yamuna along Uttarkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Since it surrounds Delhi in the northern, western and southern sides, a large area of the state is included in the National Capital Region.
